Designing for Neurodiversity: Inclusive University Estates
Discover how to design university estates that support neurodivergent individuals with AUDE’s new toolkit. This session introduces three practical resources: a webinar, a design guide, and a Work Stage checklist (developed to address sensory processing challenges in campus environments). Attendees will learn how to implement inclusive design principles aligned with PAS6463:2022 and BS 8300 standards, improving the experience for all users. Join us to explore actionable strategies and case studies that ensure your projects foster inclusivity and accessibility from inception to completion.

The impact of sound on a sticky campus
This presentation explores how soundscapes influence student engagement on a “sticky campus”— a space where students choose to stay, study, and collaborate beyond lectures in a comfortable and inclusive environment. It highlights the importance of acoustics in both formal and informal learning environments, emphasizing activity-based acoustic design. Solutions like suspended ceilings, baffles, rafts, and wall absorbers are showcased through real-world examples, demonstrating how thoughtful sound design enhances comfort, communication, and learning outcomes in higher education settings.
